Want to Bring a group to Back Home on the Farm?
Field trips can be scheduled anytime from August 30th through November 4th, 2008. Please book early for best dates. Scheduling can be arranged by calling 540-746-0782 or registering on line.
We are open to the general public on weekends, Columbus Day, and Election Day. See below for scheduling of special groups.

Safety First!
At Back Home on the Farm, extra efforts are taken to make sure that our guests will have a safe, enjoyable adventure. Almost all of our activities are handicap accessible. There are handicap accessible port-a-potties available on the grounds, and handwash staions are conveniently located near picnic areas and the farm animal exhibits. Safety rules are posted at specific activities and Back Home on the Farm is closed to the general public during the week so that school groups may enjoy the activities in a secure environment. Whenever anyone enters the corn maze, they can be assured that one of our employees is in the crow's nest overlooking the maze and ready to assist in navigating the maze or answering questions.
It's Educational... and Fun!
Back Home on the Farm is designed to be an educational activity and young and old alike enjoy learning facts about agriculture. Story boards about how pumpkins grow are included in our "pick your own" pumpkin patch. Information boards accompany displays of farm animals. Your wagon ride around the field explains how our farm operation works and we're always available to answer more questions! Eventhe maze game sheets teaches facts about agriculture! SOLs through 2nd grade are emphasized in activities specific for younger children. Extra effort is made to make everything as handicap accessible as possible.
PRESCHOOL, DAYCARE & SCHOOL GROUPS
School Groups usually ride the tractor and wagon ride (wheelchair accessible) to the pumpkin patch and pick their own pumpkins. Depending on the length of of the field trip, teachers may opt to enter the corn maze to conquer thewhole maze, or a smaller part of it. We recommend 1 adult, teacher or parent for every 4-5 children. Admission for chaperones and teachers is free. Student rate is $5.50 and all students will receive a pumpkin that they pick themselves or select from our bins. We supply all chaperones with a map of the activities. There's lots to do... techers may want to mark maps prior to arriving so that parents are aware of the "must see" activities. Picnic tables can be reserved for lunch and/or snack times.
Attn: Teachers! Please check our website for a map of the grounds that can be downloaded for your parents and a list of hints to prepare your students for this fieldtrip. To be on line by 8/15.
HOME SCHOOLERS
Homeschool groups often enjoy the company of other families that are educating children privately. For this reason we offer 2 dates, Sept. 26th, and October 13th for homeschool programs. All children over the age of 2 will be charged $5.50 and receive a pumpkin. All parents and others over the age of 12 will be charged $5.00. If these dates do not fit into your schedule, we invite you to attend during the hours we are open to the public. However, special rates will NOT apply during public hours unless you have pre-registered a group of at least 20 people. These field trips will be at a cost of $5.00 per person over the age of 2 and a pumpkin will not be included. Visitors are welcome to purchase pumpkins separately. Visa & Mastercard are welcome. Picnic tables are available on a first come, first served basis on weekends; it is recommended you reserve them with your registration request on September 26th and October 13th. Should your group wish to schedule a trip after 2:30 on a weekday, please follow the directions listed under private events. Please have 1 adult over the age of 16 for every 4-5 children. To speed entry at the gate, we recommend that you assemble your group, collect the money and have one person pay for the tickets.
CHURCH AND CIVIC GROUPS
Preteen and teenagers enjoy the group activites offered at Back Home on the Farm as well. Conquering the corn maze aids in the development of team building skills as well as being fun. Please pre-register to qualify for group rates. We request 1 adult for every 4-5 children (1 adult per group entering the maze). Food is available on the grounds for purchase at a very reasonable price. Picnic tables can be reserved if you wish to bring a picnic lunch. Adults and children over the age of 2 will be charged $5.00 for admission. Pumpkins are not included in this price. However, they may be purchased separately.
PRIVATE PARTIES
There are many options for private parties at Back Home on the Farm. The exhibit hall is available and will seat up to 50 people during the fall maze season. If you wish to rent the grounds or the maze for a special event, please contact us by e-mail or phone: 540-746-0782 and we will be glad to discuss arrangements to make sure that your event can be a memorable one.
